Chapter 1: Nick Goes to School
Nick is a boy. He lives in London. Nick is eight years old. He has brown hair and blue eyes. Nick loves school.
Every morning, Nick wakes up at seven o’clock. He eats breakfast—toast and milk. Then he puts on his school uniform: a white shirt, blue trousers, and a red tie.
Nick walks to school with his best friend, Mike. Mike is funny. He tells jokes and makes Nick laugh.
– "Hello, Nick!" says Mike.

After school, Nick and Mike go to the park. They play on the swings and talk about their day.
– "Today was fun!" says Nick.
– "Yes! But tomorrow I will do my homework!" says Mike.

Nick and Mike look everywhere: under the desks, in the bag, near the window. But the pencil case is not there.
Then, Emma says:
– "Is this your pencil case, Nick?"
Yes! It was under her chair! Nick is happy.
– "Thank you, Emma!" says Nick.
– "You’re welcome!" says Emma.
Mike laughs.
– "Next time, don’t lose it!" he says.
