Firefly Adventures
Dangerous game
The firefly woke up, but kept lying with its eyes closed. He remembered his dream. In it, a small bug flew high, illuminating the path in the dark with a blue glow.
Yes, yes, many children dream of flying.
So our friend twirled joyfully in his sleep with the rest of the fireflies. A whole month had passed since the day he was born. By the standards of lantern-bugs, this was a long time. And he decided that he had become completely grown-up. However, in reality, the firefly was still small.
“When I grow up a bit more, I will know everything. After all, I am very smart. Interesting things and fun adventures await me,” thought our glowing friend.
And this is not surprising, because many children dream this way.
The sun tilted towards the horizon, painting the sky pink.
“It’s time to get up and see what’s happening around me,” thought the firefly. He crawled out of his hole onto the moss and began to climb a tall blade of grass. His path was blocked by a shiny drop of dew. Seeing his reflection in it, the firefly spun around and said:
“How beautiful I am,” He made a funny face.
Many children like to make faces in front of the mirror when no one is watching.
“Hello! Who are you making a face at?” he heard a voice from behind.
“Hello… uh, I was just… err…,” our friend muttered awkwardly, turning to see two approaching fireflies.
“Yeah. We see… You’re doing great,” they both laughed cheerfully and suggested, “let’s get acquainted.”
“Thinker. What are your names?”
“I am Winky, and he is Green. Why are you called Thinker?”
“I chose the name myself. I really like to think…”
“Hmm… When I fly, for some reason, I always blink.”
“And you, Green…” Thinker turned to the other firefly, “you glow green in the dark, right?”
“Yes. Everyone around glows blue… And I am always green. And Winky, when he gets angry or worried, actually turns indigo.”
“Don't worry. Green fireflies are quite common, but orange ones are very rare.”
“So, you really are smart.”
“Yeah, that’s me!” Thinker glowed even brighter with pride.
Yes, yes, all children love to be praised.
“Do you want to fly with us and ride on water drops? Green and I are heading to a forest clearing. The evening dew has already formed there.”
“Of course, but I've never done it before. Will you teach me?”
